How Fudini Rates Pet Food
Every product in Fudini gets a Longevity Score from 0 to 100. The score reflects how well a food's nutrition supports a long, healthy life — not how much a brand spends on marketing. Here is exactly what goes into it.
We read each product's nutritional profile and ingredient list, then weigh the factors that research links to long-term pet health:
- Protein quality — named animal protein sources and protein content appropriate for the pet's life stage.
- Omega-3 content — EPA and DHA, which support joint, skin, and cognitive health.
- Joint-support nutrients — glucosamine, chondroitin, and similar additives, weighted more for large breeds and seniors.
- Antioxidants — vitamins E and C and natural antioxidant sources.
- Gut-health ingredients — prebiotics, probiotics, and digestible fiber.
- Grain-free formulation — considered where it fits a pet's needs, not treated as automatically better.
Each food then gets matched to your specific pet — breed size, life stage, and any allergens or health conditions you've entered — so the score you see is tuned to your dog or cat, not a generic average.
Scores are checked against established veterinary nutrition standards so they reflect accepted science, not our own opinions:
- FEDIAF — the European Pet Food Industry Federation, whose nutritional guidelines set the baseline requirements we measure against.
- WSAVA — the World Small Animal Veterinary Association, whose global nutrition guidelines inform how we assess product quality and manufacturer transparency.
- AAFCO — the Association of American Feed Control Officials, referenced for products formulated to North American standards.
Brands cannot pay to raise their score, appear higher in matches, or be recommended. We do not accept placement fees from pet food companies. The score is driven by nutrition and how well a food fits your pet — nothing else.
The Longevity Score is a nutrition guide, not medical advice. It does not account for individual conditions a vet would diagnose. If your pet has a medical issue or a prescribed diet, follow your veterinarian first.
